1. Continuity
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (the therapy I predominantly use) is a questions based approach. The way I do therapy does not change because it’s being done through an online platform. It can be just as effective online as it can be in person.
2. Convenience
Online therapy can be fitted around your daily routine easily, as there is no travel time required. In addition, as the counsellor I can often be more flexible with my days/times as I don’t have to commute.
3. Flexibility
A benefit of online therapy is all you need is a device and internet. This means you can participate in therapy from anywhere: outside of the country the therapist is based, at work in between clients/jobs, fit it into a break or still commit to therapy even when you have to travel during your working week.
4. Security
The platform I use is called Whereby.com. It’s a virtual room where you get sent a private link and I am required to let you in before you can enter. This keeps things safe and most importantly, private.
5. Ease of Use
One of the great things about Whereby.com is its really easy to use. There is no software you have to download, or password you need. You simply click the link at the time of our session, type your name in, I let you in and the session starts. Why not give it a go?
